The Gossip Chain {ode to Norman Rockwell}

There’s art in Gossip.

I only knew that since I grew up with a print of Norman Rockwell hanging above my bed. An American painter, he would often create photographs of his subjects to inspire his paintings. For more more than four decades, Norman Rockwell’s work work appeared on the covers of The Saturday Evening Post magazine… the creme de la creme when it comes to publications of paintings/illustrations.

As a flipped through an old Norman Rockwell art book in Pierre, SD days before Judy & Davuth’s wedding fun-booth, it hit me. Fun-booth inspiration of the nth degree… With my iPhone, I snapped a photo of a page in a book, then emailed it to them with the following words “Inspiration for your Fun-Booth.” The image I sent Judy and Davuth stands poor… it was a iPhone photo of a photo of a painting that originated as a photo. Talk about several generations of loss of info… kinda like what happens on a daily occurrence in the halls of church, a bowling alley, or library of small town America.

While I didn’t necessarily copy the image precise (like, that would be boring), I drew inspiration. After 5 hours of post-production time, I’m proud to share this super old-skool image, a tribute to Mr. Rockwell:
