Rachel & John, ordained
Not too often do I get a chance to photograph members of clergy outside the context of a wedding. When this wonderful couple was ordained as Lutheran pastors, I jumped at the chance to create a few portraits of them in Moorhead, Minnesota. Their colorful stoles, gifts from their parents, were hand-made for the special occasion by Anne Anderson at Interwoven Studio.
As with all the technical knowledge required to create a good photograph, location scouting remains one of my favorite ways to experience a place and share my enthusiasm with clients. I was giddy when I found this perfect location, steps away from where friends and family gathered for a party. While Rachel & John’s vestments shielded them from the mosquitos that munched on my legs, I like to think their colorful spirits preventing us from almost stepping on a skunk!
Special thanks to Anders, my voice-activated light stand, for his wonderful help! If our shoot could be wrapped up into one tidy behind-the-scenes shot, it might look like this:
Earlier in the day, I photographed Rachel’s ordination ceremony at Trinity Lutheran Church. All the wonderful emotion made me super happy!
Rachel and John, congratulations on all your hard work, commitment to your faith, and allowing me to share such a special time with you!
