Millennium Hotel Minneapolis Wedding {Jaclyn & Colin}
Fireball, “Whip / Nae Nae,” and Colin’s snazzy green blazer were among colorful highlights to this St Patrick’s Day 2017 wedding at the Millennium Hotel in Minneapolis, MN.
Jaclyn & Colin made the most of their St Patty’s Day wedding in the Twin Cities. Aside from green beer, the occasional shamrock, and the gregarious Irish traditions we all seem to enjoy (I’m half Irish!), their wedding served as a thoughtful gesture to her late Grandfather, “Love you Grandpa, Let’s Party.”
I commented to Jaclyn after the First Look as we drove to the new US Bank stadium for wedding couple photos, the rain reminded me of the Hawaiian saying, “It’s good luck for it to rain on your wedding day.” Needing no additional luck on St Patty’s Day, she smiled. “It rained on our engagement In Seattle, it rained on our engagement session in Minneapolis, so the rain completes today.” What a great spirit and attitude! Skol, Vikings!
I’ll never forget tearing up after the first dances when her 94-year-old grandmother made good on her promise to dance with them at their wedding. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room. This is why I love my job as a wedding photographer!
Colin’s favorite part of the day: The First Look.
“I wasn’t really nervous until I was brought upstairs for that moment, I then became a mixture of nervous and very excited, and when I turned around and saw Jaclyn she was amazing and even better than I imagined,” he says.
Jaclyn’s favorite part of the wedding day was enjoying the sight of guests together during the ceremony and reception.
“Words cannot describe the feeling of seeing all of your favorite people in one room together. Knowing they were all there for us was truly special,” she says.
Jaclyn feels blessed with two amazing dads, her dad and stepdad and dreamt of something outside of the traditional father-daughter dance.
One small story Jaclyn will still share when she is 80 goes like this:
“After a few minutes of slow dancing with each dad, the DJ record scratched, and my two dads and I grooved to ‘Whip / Nae Nae.’ After another record scratch, we did a choreographed dance to ‘Fireball.’ Preparing and performing these dances, then performing it, were some of the highlights of wedding planning and the day.”
Special thanks to my friend, Matt Steaffens, for his friendship and wonderful second shooting at this wedding at the Millennium Hotel in the Twin Cities!
