What’s keeping me inspired lately fresh with visuals ?
Cinema visuals, that’s what!
My wife knows a gift card to AMC does . my . heart . good. Visual storytelling on a big screen and solid sound inspires my wedding photography. I’m here to share a bit of that inspiration today so you can get to know what goes through R. J.’s creative side on photo shoots.
Cinematic Portraits
The flicker of the first pan of the camera on a closeup of an individual ready to make a move. Visual story telling, inspiration. Enter, the cinematic portrait.
Without saying a word, visuals show in 10,000 words what you can’t in writing. You know, the kind that makes you hit the pause on the movie. Just to study the light, composition, effects, etc. Wowza. I dig.
Cinema visuals inspire and inform my approach to photography. Magic light, dramatic shadows, and special effects serve important roles in shaping images of my clients. Movies like James Bond, Top Gun, Wizard of Oz to Harry Potter, Backdraft, O’ Brother Where Art Thou, among others.
Here’s the thing: big budget production quality doesn’t have to come with the cost. The average Joe can have me on their wedding day, or engagement session, to provide cinema visuals inspired in their creative photography. Impact. Punch. Drama. Boom!
What would Al Pacino Do?
While the attack of the 50 foot woman make be unrealistic on a wedding day. However, mood lighting at the end of the night with the groom and his guys and cigars will be a guaranteed path to a unique and dramatic image.
High production for ‘average’ people IS possible when they hire me. Think National Geographic matching a rocket scientist groom to art history fanatical bride. Anything is possible.
I hope you enjoy some of my recent client work inspired movies. See if you can spot the movie inspiration:
