Stanley Hotel Wedding {Christine & Owen}

Ironman marries Ironwoman* in snowy mountains at 7,800 ft. That would be THE wedding news slug for November 16, 2013.

Christine and Owen’s Stanley Hotel wedding was as classic as a Colorado mountain wedding as one could dream. A cozy ceremony at a church with views of Rocky Mountain National Park? You bet. Snow slowly falling at twilight. Yes, please. Inspirations from ‘haunting’ historic architecture which served as an inspiration role for Steven King’s novel, “The Shining.” Yes, and know there’s ‘REDRUM’ reference. Creative portraits featuring the poise and polish elegance you’d see in Vanity Fair. Of course. Panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains at an elevation of 7,800 feet on the eastern slope of the Colorado Rockies? Done and done.

Among my favorite movies, Dumb and Dumber, featured a scene filmed here… the one where Lloyd Christmas discovers “MAN WALKS ON MOON!” After all these years, this still cracks me up!

I love when I get a chance to photograph a couple who are friends with former clients, Ryan and Temple. From the start of Owen and Christine’s Boulder engagement session, I knew these über athletes would never let elevation hold them back and would serves as a hefty dose of athletic inspiration (I do enjoy triathlons, myself). Even 7,800 feet, they move strong on foot, bike, or in chilly water. And in love, so I found while creating their images behind my camera.

Estes Park has quickly become one of my favorite places to photograph, regardless of inclement weather (despite recent massive flooding which threw everyone a curve ball). We bounce back, stronger than ever. The combination of majestic scenery and handsome, strong couple made this event an inspiring blessing for me.

Thank you to Christine, Owen, their families and friends for inviting me into their celebration of such an important day and sharing their special time with me. I was honored to help document photojournalistic moments, important details, and creative portraits just for you!

*Christine gets the award for the coolest bridal Speedo tan lines with Ironman stories, by the way. She completed an amazing FIVE this year. You go girl!
