A unique wedding favor idea
Looking for a wedding favor to gift wedding guests that is unique, cheap, practical, and creative? Look no further.
Introducing: THE WEDDING GUEST MINI-SESSION.
Photos of guests sitting around a dinner table went out with Members Only jackets and Doc Martens in the 90s. (Confession: I owned both).
Rest assured, however, relaxed portraits of wedding guests will never go out of style. Ever. After all, wedding guests are not just ordinary people to overlook on the wedding day. These important folks helped the wedding couple shape “their story.” Why not grab a few relaxed portraits when there’s a bit of time built into the wedding timeline?
My Tips:
- Consider a First Look to have more time with guests.
- If you have a larger wedding (100+ guests), slip a note to those to tell them to see the photographer just before sunset for a surprise (Shhh…it’s our secret).
- The best time is about 45-15 minutes before sunset (you’ll want to save the best light for wedding couple portraits).
- After cocktail hour and before dessert works great.
- Turn it into a party by adding a fun-booth like the zany, colorful Wilson Wedding Fun-Booth, a Classic B&W Fun-Booth, or rage out with a Ring-flash Anti-Photo Booth in Greece.
- Be sure to leave extra room in your wedding album to include a page of some of your favorite wedding guest portraits.
During the reception fun at Tiffany & Joe’s wedding in Hawaii this summer, I shared some quality time with a few of their guests and surprised them with a mini-session. They took us up on the opportunity to catch the great light just before sunset at the amazing Sunset Ranch Hawaii wedding venue (pinch me). A few faves:
