Flowers in The Home: Surprising Source of Inspiration
Just occurred to me I might have gone overboard with fresh flowers in my home. But is there ever such a thing?
Not of fan of ‘tendrils and Curly-Qs,’ rather understated-simplicity, color, and clean lines accented by glass, chrome, woods, and whites… not to much different than my wedding photography style. It’s good for me to remind myself of when inundated with editing, album design, or life in general.
If you ever wonder what’s your “design aesthetic” or are hunting to find your “own style,” look around at your desk, kitchen, or bathroom for clues to the answers. You might be surprised. Little things can serve big inspiration for a website, wedding reception decor, invitations, or inspiration for life (sans cheesy inspirational poster).
Life throws us curve balls. All the time. Dealing with uncertainties IS life. Little things, like flowers, serve as simple indulgences to bring us back to savor simple joys. Joy. What a beautiful name.
March 13, 2012 commemorates a very special day for me: my wedding date! Oahu, here we come!
Orchids lower right a gift from the one and only, Kevin Omura, our wedding coordinator and dear friend. I worked with Kev right after going through really tough times and he and “The Boys” taught me the importance of attitude in life on par with my experience at Burning Man 2011 and my 200+ couples I photographed as part my Burning Man personal project that changed my life. Yes, that was the year I wore my Boy Scout uniform.
Now go and smell some flowers. Seriously.
I dedicate this post to my friend, Mary, who has fielded waaay too many curve balls as of late dealing with a broken tibia not made easier by the state of California disability claims. Big hugs to my “Russian River Mom.” My name tag still hangs in a special place!
