Sun Halo in Colorado
A 22 degree sun halo, an optical phenomena resulting from sun refracted ice crystals high in the Denver sky. Not common around Colorado, so I knew I had to grab a shot. Believe it or not, this is a color image, sans Photoshop. Proof? Check the purple haze.
Photograph created with a Nikon D-700, 24mm at f/16, 1/4000 sec, ISO 200… under exposed by about 5 stops. Shooting at f/16 helps to render those sun stars. Shot at 1:05pm on May 1.
