Top 50 US Wedding Photographer, Really?
This morning shortly after I awoke, my Twitter notification dinged from @Weddzilla, “the voice of the wedding industry.” I read my name listed on the Top 50 Wedding Photographers in the US.
I mentioned it in passing just before my wife head to work. She congratulated me. In a snap, I commented how Willy has become quite the cuddle bug.
“You’re turning into a true stoic Midwesterner,” she stated as if I shrugged off a blue ribbon from Minnesota State Fair in the rhubarb baking division.
You see, being listed among the best wedding photo industry greats is very humbling. I’ve looked up to these folks for years.
I’m just doing my job, which I love, just like many of hardworking friends and mentors I’ve met through Fearless Photographers and ISPWP such as: Erin & Ben Chrisman (stellar photojournalists and creatives who knock it out of the park on each wedding); Anna Kuperberg (one of my favorite photographers who also captured Willy running into the ocean whose image took a Fearless Award); Jeff Newsom (kick my creativity into full force during his first workshop in 2010); Ryan Brenzier (His techniques inspire me); Sergio (also called the best photographer in the world by his Mom); Susan Stripling (one of my creative crushes and creates useful Think Books); Kent Meireis (Denver peep in the house who rocks the Fearless Awards!). Also listed, several uber-talented emerging pros new to me including a few in my new St Paul/Minneapolis backyard, Brian Newfield and Shelly Paulson.
I’m humbled.
About that rhubarb bake-off: if won, I’d exercise my extreme bragging rights for sure!
