Florida Keys Wedding at Casa Aqua {Anna & Alex}
On Cudjoe Key in Florida, sits Casa Aqua, the perfect spot for Anna and Alex’s intimate Jewish wedding on the beach.
Allow me to rewind; I thought Alex would never “settle down”. He once signed his travelogues, “Always Searching, Alyosha.” Through a serious of unplanned coincidences, he met Anna only to later learn he traveled the world to find someone so close to home. They both found what they’re looking for in each other. I could not be happier for the two of them!
“The pictures are the most important detail,” Anna and Alex stated months ago after their surprise engagement session at the Lincoln Memorial. She stole my heart. I knew this would be an amazing Florida Keys destination wedding.
Anna’s family flew in from the Ukraine for their first visit to the US. They met Alex’s family, were introduced to Krispy Kreme donuts, cramped airplanes, and iguanas. Anna and Alex did an amazing job as language and cultural interpreters throughout the weekend. Even the toasts where translated with precision, although some words got lost in translation from Yiddish to Ukranian to English. They taught me a few Russian words, too: добре, Budmo, and CHANGE!
Their wedding day started early while enjoying the light of dawn together. They traveled down a boardwalk covered by mangroves, light rain fell, wafting the organic smell of a tropical rainforest while the sun rose. A string of emotions raced through my head. This place seemed familiar. “Daintree Rainforeset, Cape Tribulation,” I said. Alex totally agreed. Our memories rushed back to 1998 where we experienced the Australian rainforest meeting the sea, together. We couldn’t have planned this reunion better, as the memories were a cornerstone to our lives. Today’s memories would be even better, we agreed.
I look back at last weekend’s wedding with deep joy and gratitude. There’s nothing like connecting with the soul of my clients. This was among one of the most personally fulfilling weddings I’ve ever photographed. I greatly appreciate the open arms their families and Rabbi welcomed me with!
I have seen Alex lose his travel bug and dedicate himself to building a new life with Anna- settling down with his soul at peace… it has found its partner. I look forward to continued life experiences with Alex and Anna and what the future has to bring. Thank you for allowing me to be apart of your exciting journey, both inside and outside.
