Tomte dolls, Year 3
This year the tomte dolls became bolder. Perhaps from the chilly holiday temperatures. Or just experience. After all, this is the 3rd year they’ve been displaying mischievous antics. And if you are catching up with us, be sure to see what they did the first year and the second year.
Good news: at least one behaved, and stayed in their rightful place, on the mantel.
The others, however, have been inspired by this year’s events. One tomte grew a Movember ‘stache. Another learn to sew. One started a book club. Another loves NPR and road trips. One was inspired by Joey L. Another fell in love with the recycled art work of Louise Harris while one took a liking to Amy Thielen’s Midwestern Table. Willy’s nose knows good stuff, like trips to the ocean and special treats, another tomte discovered. Of course, those Lego projects tend to bring out the Danish kid in everyone, especially for the younger tomten. Even the new immigrants from our summer Norway adventure didn’t take long to explore when no one was looking.
A few bold tomte ventured outside for the first time. One snowplowed like a champ. Another took Lightning McQueen for a spin, thanks to the help from a niece and nephew who also love Cars the movie. Speaking of kids, another enrolled in taekwondo at Lakes Martial Arts in Minneapolis.
We live in a gentler neighborhood, thanks to a couple tompten who enjoy feeding and housing the local birds. Another couple enlisted in the Squirrel Brigade. squirrels chewed into the attic last spring, reeking havoc with our insulation and making night scratching noises. Plus Willy doesn’t care for them and they eat our bird food).
Today’s surprise couldn’t have comes at a perfect time. Cheers to the holiday spirit and good will to all!
And if you looking to grow your own Tomte dolls, check out Stabo. They train them well.
